These 8 YES statements will assist you in releasing your true voice. If you do not allow yourself to discover and acknowledge who you really are, you will not trust yourself enough to share who you are with others. If you are being only what you think people want to see and hear from you, how are you ever going to discover that wonderful person who is waiting to be seen and heard living inside of you.
Some of the technical aspects of singing is breathing, proper posture, annunciating, diaphragm strength, and resonation, to name a few. But vocal students do technical exercises to strengthen the body to supports the sound (the voice) so that it can be properly released (and not pushed out). That sound, that voice is YOU! How you feel, your expression, your interpretation of the song. That voice is the focused sum of your feelings and emotions that are infused into the lyrics of the song that is sung.
Stop saying I can’t sing and start with this simple exercise of singing (or reciting) the YES statements. Apply them to your life and know that as you continue to say and believe them, you just might feel courageous enough to take a vocal lesson and share your true voice with others. Yes, you can sing!
Take care
