About Us
We are the music shop that has been at 695 Bank St (in the Glebe) Ottawa, Ont. since 1960. We mostly sell guitars and are extremely proud of our Canadian made lines which include Godin, Seagull, Simon & Patrick, La Patrie and Art & Lutherie, among others. We sell these guitars because we believe that they are absolutely the best value available, period. We also carry a selection of accessories, books, small sound systems, ukuleles, other musical instruments, and occasionally have some pretty cool items that we sell on consignment both musical and artisanal (see Treeware). Gift certificates are always available, we do some rentals and basic repairs. Music instruction is offered for guitar, bass, drums, theory and piano.
Bob Sabourin opened the shop on April 1st, 1960 at 695 Bank St. as "Professional Guitar Studios." In 1961 Christine Weber came to take guitar lessons and the following year they married. Together they ran the studio and the shop evolved into a music store. In 1965 the name was changed to Metro Music. Throughout the years the focus has always been on guitars & instruction, the associated musical necessities, and accoutrements, and various treasures. For the past couple of decades, the shop has been run by Danielle Sabourin (daughter).
