To develop a back to school mindset there are three thing that you require and already possess; curiosity, repetition and consistency.

Curiosity
In order to want to learn, we need to be curious about what is being taught.
Always ask yourself “why do I need to know this”, “How will this benefit me and “how can I use this knowledge”. The moment you see how what you are learning will benefit you, you will dive right into it.

Repetition
Once the need is established, then repetition reinforces the new skill.
“Studies, like those from the American Psychological Association (APA), show that spaced repetition and short, regular study bursts are more effective for long-term retention than
inconsistent, long hours of cramming.” Short spaced repetition study is what I always suggest to my students.

Consistency
“In theory, consistency sounds like discipline and determination, strong and unwavering, but in practice, consistency is about being adaptable. When time is tight, shrink the task, when energy is low, do the simpler version, it’s not about being rigid, it’s about finding ways to KEEP SHOWING UP no matter what.
Your habits don’t have to be fixed, they should evolve with your day. The key is not in doing the same thing over and over again, but in never stopping, even when life gets in the way. Each step forwards no matter how small keeps you on track. Adaptability is not the opposite of consistency, it’s the very heart of it. Consistency is the art of staying the course no matter the obstacle” says Master Gu. There will always beextremely disciplined people and everyone else who do not know how to stick to a routine.
This tool assists the student in always engaging in the skill they are working on.
No longer will you have to deal with feeling guilty for allowing huge gaps of time to come between you and your practice time when curiosity, repetition and consistency becomes a NEW way of developing your craft.

Have fun,
